Insurance due for renewal and the basic quote (excluding all the add-ons) is £503+£72 IPT from Caravan Guard. EU and breakdown cover brings it to £659.
I have rung around but can’t get near it.
I am told this is mainly due to the van being my only vehicle driven daily, hence 11000 miles pa.
Anybody else declaring a similar mileage for a daily driver and getting a decent quote for the basic insurance?

Caravan Guard were most competitive for me last year, having previously been with LV. My Cali is my daily drive, annual mileage slightly lower at 9,000. Insurance has so many variables and hard to compare policies between people, rate you have been quoted looks very similar to what I paid.

15,000 miles, LV was £375 last September. I do however have another vehicle in the household, wife’s car.

That’s quite reassuring, thanks.
I totally agree that variables make a huge difference, hence I just trying to gauge how the land lies.
Cheers.

Ah, it’s the lack of a second vehicle that does for me, I think.
I must be an insurers nightmare :headbang
I tried LV and they would insure me but it was a high quote.
Cheers.

Have you tried SafeGuard? Working in insurance, I always want to know who underwrites the policy and SafeGuard are through AXA, a decent insurer. They also include European breakdown cover. I specifically wanted an insurer that provides unlimited European cover and they have no limit to the number of days you can spend abroad; you just need to specify the approximate mileage. Mine is a daily driver with estimated mileage of 12k per year. It’s hard to compare prices as everyone has their own variables that affect cost, but mine came out at just over £700.

That’s really helpful, thanks. I agree that it’s difficult to compare quotes, too many variables and all that, which is why I narrowed the discussion down to daily driver and relatively high mileage.
I’ll ring Safeguard and see what they say, though I am pretty sure now that my original renewal quote was ballpark right. I hate to accept that I am seen as high risk, even if it now seems that I am :headbang
