Kampa pro, Jormax or similar calibre windbreak recommendations requested

I'm considering one of the aforementioned windbreaks.

The Kapma Pro packs to 100 x 16cm and the only indication of pack size for the Jormax is this thread that doesn't give "specific" dimensions
JORMAX WINDBREAK STORAGE

It seems the "less intelligent" among our species have struggled to construct the Kampa Pro, deciding to ignore any instructions that are really easy to find on-line.

A search of Kapma Pro on the forum only returns one posting Thread 51 and there's not a lot of recent information regarding the Jormax

Does anyone have valid input they can add please? Particularly with respect to pack size of the Jormax and "usability" of either? Or, any other windbreak of similar calibre than can be recommended
Cheers

Wow!
I'm surprised I've had no replies regarding either windbreak. I would have assumed at least "somebody" would have had experience of either

I had one of these type of windbreak 25yrs ago, always falling over guide ropes, loosened then it fell over. Bought a 13 pole (wooden) and used a hammer to fix in ground, no problem since

Yes me too wooden with metal tips
Bang it in hard

I ordered them both to perform a comparison

Jormax
I opted for the "Vision Top" as opposed to "Solid Colour" or "Vision"
Very simple to erect. Just insert a dome head pin in to the top of the poles then whack it with a hammer. No pegs are needed
Minimal wind felt through the "Vision component" as it's a tightly woven mesh. It feels rubberized
It "felt" more like a pet enclosure than windbreak
Seemed quite strong when erected but not 100% sure I'd be able to whack then retrieve it from a hard stand!
Just over 5" when packed down so didn't fit on the rear shelf. Would need to run the length of the vehicle and protrude through the small compartment [ski container] in the drawer

Kampa Pro
The clear panel provides ample view through
Not so obvious to erect but quite simple nonetheless.
Extremely sturdy once erected
Supplied pegs are somewhat crap considering the hefty purchase price
Angled support poles means it occupies more real estate than the Jormax
Packs down to easily fit on the rear shelf

Which did I keep?
The Kampa Pro

Why?
I didn't feel like a dog in an enclosure, It matched the VW but the main reason was packed size. Jormax were able to create a shorter pole but they felt it wouldn't work as well as full height.

In these photographs the support poles are at a quite acute angle. Later installs are more upright and therefore occupy less real estate

Hi
Having just read your post I've found it really helpful as I've been trying to decide between the exact two windbreakers. Can I just ask, nearly a year on are you still pleased with the Kampa windbreak, any negatives that you've found? Also do you find you're using it as much as you'd anticipated.
Many thanks
Sue

I have Jormax and quite happy with it. Sorry I didn’t see you post last year to reply to.
Mine is transported in the left hand side of the back of the Ocean (the ski lane, so to speak).
I use it at agility competitions to have a ‘garden’ area where the dogs are safe and secure.

Thanks, I was thinking I would have to discount the Jormax as I think it's about 1.5m long and when I measured the ski storage section on the left it looked like the windbreak would be too long to fit, that's why I was leaning towards the Kampa.

Hi Sue

I have a Kampa Pro that I plan to sell - it’s only been used a handful of times and is in as new condition still in its original box. We’ve decided to reduce our kit and take/carry less so it’s surplus to our requirements. If you’re interested let me know.

I have four sections (4m and 5m) and they all fit there stacked on top of each other.

Hi, many thanks for the offer but I was only after the 3 section one.

Hi Alison, sorry my mistake, I was replying to Howiedog's offer of selling his windbreak. I don't post on here very often so a bit unfamiliar. Thanks for the info. So do the upright poles fold, as I thought they were around 5ft long and when I measured the ski storage section it didn't seem long enough to take that length of pole without them sticking out and stopping the boot closing.

I move the bench seat forward about 20-30cm and then the poles fit. My bench seat needs to be forward anyway for my dog crates to fit on the ‘parcel shelf’.

That's really helpful, never thought of doing that! Out of interest did you go for the solid colour or the "vision" version?

Hi Sue,
We were so happy with it that we bought an additional 3 panel section and a door!!
the fact it fits horizontally across the boot space is an additional bonus.
It’s been used in some pretty severe weather and stood the test perfectly.

I went for solid. I use it to make a garden at dog agility comps. But don’t leave the dogs out unattended.

We have Jormax which we mainly use at dog agility. We have a 4 meter a 5 meter and a gate.

They are great quality but do have some drawbacks.
- They are easy to put up, but still take a while and you need a BIG hammer.
- They are heavy
- They take up a lot of space
- We pack ours down the left side, they are a few inches too long to fit in ski storage section, so like Alison we move the seat forward a bit rather than have them poking into the living area.

However they are good, if you have dogs.

Hi, thanks for that. Have you used it on hardstanding pitches as we tend to use those most, also is it quite quick to erect? What's the weight like lifting it around when packed away in the storage bag? Sorry, final question, what's it like in the wet, does it try fairly quickly?
Many thanks Sue

HowieDog have you still got the windbreak for sale?
