Last weekend we paid £65 per night at Tristram in Polzeath and they still charged extra for showers
Hey @The Tall Luthier ……. We’re on our way to Savoie next week, do you have any recommendations for things to see, best or cheapest Aires?11€ yesterday, right next to the river near Annecy, Showers included.
Oh, sorry wrong way.
Lake district £37, bog standard Rip Off Britain type affair.
Up to £15 max once in the dim and distant pastLast weekend we paid £65 per night at Tristram in Polzeath and they still charged extra for showers
Pitches no. We have a bolt hole down here.Hey @The Tall Luthier ……. We’re on our way to Savoie next week, do you have any recommendations for things to see, best or cheapest Aires?
Apologies for thread hijack![]()
Wow! Thanks @The Tall Luthier (Umbrella Academy?). Plenty to be getting on with there!Pitches no. We have a bolt hole down here.
Things to do, yes!
Hiking: loads of it, Komoot is great for finding hikes wherever you are.
Cycling: boy you better like hills or you’re going nowhere. Again Komoot is great wherever you end up.
Lakes: the water is lovely and warm this time of year.
Annecy: super lush place, great cycle around the lake, mountains to the east make for great hikes with spectacular views.
Back Road from Annecy to Bonneville is a stunning drive, the col isn’t for the feint hearted. The campsite on that road was 11€
On a budget, drive into Chamonix and over the col to Italy, everything is cheaper and better there; coffee, food, hill walks and ice cream, áperol spritz . Budget or none, go there. The skyway up monti bianchi is so so very worthwhile. Much cheaper than the Chamonix version, although the Chamonix train to the glacier is nice.
Mountain biking in les gets, great if that’s your thing. It was mine but pain seems to be getting more painful!
White water rafting is still on though the ’white’ part is lacking as it’s been so dry round these parts.
If you like, tell me what you’re into I might have specifics.
In that case Annecy ticks all those boxes. Medieval, flat around the lake 26 miles for cycling, water activities galore, great walk around the top, drive to col de colbandieres and walk up to Mont Veyrier.Wow! Thanks @The Tall Luthier (Umbrella Academy?). Plenty to be getting on with there!
We do like visiting cute and charming villages (who doesn’t?), castles, Chateaux, fortified towns, vineyards and wineries, forest and hill walking, water activities…… I guess it’s all there really! Cycling is limited to our 3 speed Brommies so best kept flat.
Oh did you mean the D1203?
Also which way out from Chamonix?
Cheers
If there was a prize - I think you win hands down!We paid the best part of €240 a night for a front row pitch facing the beach at Playa Montroig in Spain this summer. It's a smashing site for the kids and that but by god it's pricey.

I would want a "fully" service pitch for that price. We paid the best part of €240 a night for a front row pitch facing the beach at Playa Montroig in Spain this summer. It's a smashing site for the kids and that but by god it's pricey.
