Bike rack? T7 Multivan California

Just watched a utube video from AutoBid - they mention that a bike rack will not mount to the rear door on the T7,California - and that a bike rack will not fit to a tow ball as the rear door makes this impossible.

Has anyone with the T7 California managed to carry bikes on an external bike rack?
 
I can’t see why the tailgate prevents a tow bar rack. They might mean you can’t open the tailgate but that’s no different to any towbar mounted rack and any van combination. The better ones (Thule / Atera) slide down away from the tailgate to allow the tailgate to swing open. I’ve had 2 Atera towbar racks and can’t see any reason, having seen a T7 in the showroom, why the latest one I have won’t fit and still allow the tailgate to open.

Thanks. I agree with you. In theory it will be much the same as it is with the transporter based Califonias.

Be good to hear from someone who has one fitted to confirm all is ok :)
 
I have a Thule easyfold xt3, hopefully getting my t7 with electric towbar August 1st.

Saw this video that might be useful for ref. Looks like a small mod could make the easyfold workable for boot opening. It's a previous model in the video but some comments suggest the easy fold can successfully be modded the same way...removing a couple of bumper/ stopper bungs.
 
Yep I have 3 electric bikes on a Thule tow bar mounted bike rack …on a 2025 t7 ocean..no problem ..might have to turn the handle bars paralels to the back door to give you more space.
It is close to the vertical weight limit on the bar but I have no problems.
The trick is to remove the two plastic stops on the rack enabling it to rotate back onto the ground then it’s easy to open the back door with the carrier and bikes attached…just put a cushion down if it’s onto tarmac as it rotates onto the ground
 
I've just got a Atera Forza L bike rack for my just delivered T7. it fits on the tow bar, and works perfectly. There is an adjustment on the Atera rack that allows you to increase the tilt of the rack to 90 degrees, and at that tilt level, the rear doors open when bikes are fitted. The instructions on how to do this are not in the user guide that comes with the rack however, they are buried in the user guide that you can get to via the QR link, or use common sense to work it out.
 
Is it still impossible to get a towbar fitted to a T7 unless it's specified at factory? Last I read here there were zero availability for after market installation. Hope it's changed!
