12 volt dash aux sockets

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the 12 volt dash sockets switchable from the ignition?

I found this,

referring to VW / Audi cars where you can alter the fuse position to a lower (or higher) bus bar position, to make either switched or permanent live.

The handbook is very vague, not giving much information at all regarding fuse positions, so perhaps someone with more knowledge may know.
