12v Slow Cooker, any good?

Has anyone used a 12V Slow cooker please ? Are they worth buying ? I plan to do plenty of winter camping this year and thought it would be nice to spend the day out walking and come back to the Cali with a meal waiting.

We have one and it's great. Get it going first thing, out all day, meal ready for evening. I we are travelling during the day the meal is ready when we stop.

We use the RoadPro 12v slow cooker, it is a great little unit but only big enough for a couple, it is great to come back to the van after a long cycle ride to the smell of a nice Coq au vin

Not hammer it but it does take a bit out

Mine sits in its own little box in the boot and I cook as I drive

That's the advantage of the Mr D. After the initial heat up on the stove it uses no power at all. Uses the stored heat to slow cook.

Sorry to steer it slight off topic. Can I ask a daft question ... why not simply plug an ordinary 240v slow cooker into the Inverter socket?

I think the inverter socket is only 150w max.

Yeah right, so I was thinking of a cooker with a lower rating than 150w obvs ...
