A new beach tour. Is this correct? It looks rather odd. A bit of sticky tape at the end of a metal piece of trim at the front of the pop-up roof. On both sides.

I take it the structural integrity of the roof will not be affected if I decide to remove mine?

Search tape. It's been discussed multiple times and its normal. A clumsy solution to cover a rough metal rail
That’s really poor on a prestige vehicle! I’d have to remove it I think. Maybe then refinish with a metal putty and paint?

The lower bellows seal is spot bonded to the roof channel in the 5 places where there are joins in the channel: that’s one of them and the tape is simply applied there during manufacture to stop the glue making a mess inside. It can be removed.

Ours had the tape, think it just covers a potential sharp edge. Removed ours when we fitted the Isotop.

VW love sticky tape, double sided tape was the cure for roof corrosion..the vans just need a Blue Peter badge stuck on the back.

We have similar in our 2022 Ocean except ours is like decorators masking tape. I pointed it out to the dealer on handover in case it should have been removed at PDI but the salesperson said it was normal and they all have it from the factory. I think they said it was to protect an edge trim? So I’ve left it as it is but it does look a bit Heath Robinson doesn’t it!
