A pleasant surprise from Admiral Insurance + £41.00 (for 9 months)

I checked with Admiral, all manufacturers equipment is covered.
Have followed them up about the precise details on this and if camping accidents are covered. They seemuncertain and are chasing it up. I think motorhome insurance is a new product to them and its not been thought out properly yet. I use them for all other insurances though but it won't be for the Cali.

Went through this discussion with them about 9 months ago and didn’t get that warm feeling that they were on the ball! At the time they had an article “selling“ the lifestyle so they should know what they are doing by now! The article has been updated.....https://www.admiral.com/magazine/guides/van/motorhomes-and-the-law

My new Cali is a year old today ;(
I got one years free insurance from VW when I bought it, they wanted £520 to renew.

So added it to my admiral multi-car, cost £96 for 10 months cover. Decent saving.

As for on the ball, even so called specialist insurers dont know what a California is or about the immobiliser category, is it a case of ‘constructive ambiguity’? I am with Admiral and as ever none of us know who goid they or other insurer is until we claim.

My wife had an accident and the car was covered by Admiral. They collected the car and took it to their repairers. They also delivered the car back. There where many faults like the door that rubbed on the front wing when opening. Even after the minor bump the door did not rub on the wing. The electric window did not work and the engine management light was on. I was told that I had to take the car back. The place was a massive car repairers which I think is owned by them. They told me the door needed adjusting so I would have to book it it. They tried resetting the electric window and could not. They reset the engine management light but that did not work. They agreed to adjust the door and as a good will they fixed the window. They say that the engine management light was either on before the accident or there was something wrong with the engine. In the end VW replaced the EGR valve which I paid for.
When my wife’s insurance was up for renewal Admiral we’re surprised we did not want to renew it, even after offering a one off discount if £50.
