Cna anyone explain the difference/relationship between these two? I have the CampingCard ACSI books and there seems to be an associated App available, but there is also the ACSI europe app available. And the ACSI Europe app appears to have twice as many campsites in France, for example (2408) as the other (1245).

I'm very confused.....

I see what you mean. I have the Camping Card, associated books and App. Which has less than the ACSI app which does have 2408. I presume the additional ones do not have the benefit of the Camping card discount.

I got the ACSI camping card & camperspots (translated from Dutch : camperplaatsen)
It is focussed on sites where a Camper can be pitched up at the special camper parking places .
The book says 12.000 campsites and camperspots in europe ...
With the card giving discount in low season.
Using it at this moment in Poland ...nice site everything included two pers. dog showers wifi....17€/night
I use it very much the ACSI guide

The camping card app and book cover only the sites that are discounted in low season with the camping card ACSI. The ACSI Europe app with additional sites covers all the sites including discounted ones. The inspections and reviews are of the same standard. There is also a specialist camper van book which Hotel California refers to - I don't think there is an app to match. I use both apps. Sometimes the non card sites are still very good value without a discount, so we normally check both apps when we're looking for sites.

Your trip looks great @hotel california

I have the books (camping and camper + the app ) not very happy with the choice.
I use ANWB.nl as well, being Dutch is helpfull, but htey have a great selection.

I looked at 3 campings that got good reviews from ASCI but were bashed by the peiople that visited the campings.

Wondering what the test criteria are .

I've not found anything particularly wrong with ACSI inspected sites I've been to, but they've generally been nothing special either (with a few exceptions).

The ACSI sites are just rated for a certain minimum standard of facilities. Nothing more. They could be next to a rubbish tip, a lovely lake or like the one I stayed at next to a lovely wood surrounded by a 6 ft fence with Skull & Cross bones with signs that translated to " Unexploded Munitions - No Entry ". The showers and WiFi were fine for an overnight stop.:thumb

I agree the inspector reviews are very clinical. You need to read the user reviews on the app. In six years and probably 90 sites, we've found a few duff ones but most are well above acceptable and many are absolute gems. But yes, loads of other resources to cross check with
