We are a 'child free' couple, planning our first 'Cali' trip abroad to France next May. We were hoping to avoid 'traditional campsites', but would consider them if they were quiet and small (we are not members of the CCC or the CC but would consider joining if worthwhile). We were wondering if anyone had suggestions for the best reigons / areas / campsites to visit. We enjoy coastal areas but would also be open to inland areas. We live in the North East of England and have planned to be away for 2 weeks. Any advice would be greatly welcomed

Join France Passion.... Stay for free on small holdings and sample local foods. For oysters, try south Brittany.... Best pitch was 2m from sea with chilled wine out of the fridge and 12 oysters for 5€.....

Think you need to sort out witch part you want to see , or what intrests you got.
Two weeks France , you can "see " a lot in two weeks and still actually "seen nothing"
Do you want to drive every day , stay on a spot for a few days and go from there to check out the nearby.
France got plenty of coast , think in may you need to go south( Cote d'azur) for nice themps.
Don't think the westcoast gonna give you beachweather at that time.
Try to work out a direction or a tour ,depending on where you will be arriving on the mainland, then search for free camperspots and campsites on the way , there are plenty in France!
Try planning a trip allong the route nationals(toll-free) as you get to see so much more then travelling on the highway/ peages( tollroads)

My recommendation would be to use the overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge. Expensive but worth it.
It's magic. Leaves in the evening. Nice meal, good film, great kip. Arrive in Rotterdam or Zeebrugge at 8 in the morning raring to go. Love it :thumb
The buffet restaurant is great value for dinner and breakfast.
