Hi Folks

We've been through the ages with Type 2 Moonraker, T4 Multivan and more recently T5 Caravelle with Bedpack. We take delivery of our California T5 on Weds this week and it's been a long old wait for arrival. Been really useful to see some of the chat in relation to options extras and issues.

Anyone got any hot tips on Insurance?

Keep up the fine work.

Matt :hello

Hi there welcome along I bet your getting excited about wed :thumb
If you become a VIP for a meagre £9.99 there is a very usefull checklist to download to take with you it highlights everything you should have in the cali :thumb
As for insurance a lot of people choose comfort. There is a lot of advice in our insurance section

Thanks Cali Kev

Will upgrade and check out the check list. Yep called comfort today and followed the info on the forum on leaving a van for more than 36 hrs and it turns out if want to park at an airport or train station, I need there permission which doesn't work for me.

Thanks for welcome and yes very excited about Weds been the longest 12 weeks.... :D

If a member of the Caravan & camping club try their insurance, was a few quid cheaper than my comfort renewal & no 36 rule, they accept NCB.

I rang A Plan insurance today and tey will not insure me as I only have a California. All teir underwriters insist I have a second vehicle. Ah well I will have to wait for Comfort's renewal and then ring caravan club CC&C etc etc.

I went for SafeGuard. They offered business travel and NCD protection which is what I needed. Wasn't cheap but wasn't the most expensive by a long shot so worth a try.

Tips is you are asking for a quote for them.

I told them I was a member of the forum when they asked me if I belonged to any owners club. They said that gave me a £15 discount. To prove membership I sent them the PayPal receipt which they accepted.

They will also ask you about the alarm. Due to the value they insist on a Thatcham Cat 1. This document from the Thatcham web site was proof for them. It shows all factory fit alarms that have been rated Cat 1. The California is on page 18.

I hope this helps and you have a fab time in your new Cali.
