T6 Cali On Order
Hi,

First post, been reading a lot on the forums but now Cali Beach is ordered, I could do with some advice and guidance on specific points.

1. We have ordered the 2 seat rear bench and wondered which fridge could \ would fit under the rear bed extender (if possible) and if there are any power points for a fridge back there for the fridge to be powered from?

2. How easy is the awning to remove and re-fit?
I am *considering* if possible, vinyl wrapping (carbon fibre effect) the awning, rather than leaving just standard colour but (not 100% sure yet, it may look awful) and also putting carbon fibre wrap \ strip on top lip of the bumper \ boot door section as protection when loading \ unloading (i think you can already buy clear or black scuff protector film for this area).

I already use carbon fibre vinyl in the workshop, so I can do some proper colour \ contrast testing once the Cali arrives but would need to remove the awning to do a good job.

We have ordered the beach in Mojave so the colours may work.

Thank in advance.

There's a video somewhere of how to remove an awning. Just make sure you get the rain seal back In Position. Also 2 man job for lifting it. Yes there is a power point In The back of the back on the rhs.

Hi & welcome we have a Beach with the 2 seater, yes there is a 12V switch in the back. Because of the low height of the multi board in the 2 seater you will have less choice of fridge that will fit under there.
We have a Dometic 36litre, didn’t want anything smaller, so travel with this lashed behind the front passenger seat then move it when on site.
Hope you find what you’re looking for. Lots of previous posts on fridges do a search you may find the answer you’re looking for.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses, found the video regarding removing the awning, doesn't seem too bad.

Regarding the fridge, only me and the wife to cater for, so may have to wait for the Beach to arrive and do some measurements and then try and find something to fit.

33cm high and 80cm deep

Igloo coolers are also very good. No power required, you just need ice.

Hi Daz

Wrapping the wind out awning cover would be possible, the result would depend on your skill set.
One thing to assess is the cover is a friction fit with the main casing, I.e, the top leading edge of the front cover and either side come in contact with the main housing casing and the two end caps ( plastic), grit and general crud can accumulate, which may cause a decorative wrap to wear, depending on how the wrap was fitted.

I wrapped the front face of the front cover in clear helicopter tape and added a couple of thin strips to the plastic end caps where the front cover meets.

The top edge and sides of the helicopter tape has been trimmed to blend into the curving front edge.

The reason I fitted the tape to the front face was, I sometimes use a drive away awning attached to the top edge of the front cover via figure of 8 strips, the helicopter tape provides a bit of “replaceable” scratch protection from the use of figure of 8 strips and adds a gloss finish.

In short yes you can wrap the front cover and casing, if you like, the end caps possibly not due to the multiple profiles of the end caps

I hope that helps

Here is a picture of what I described above As you can see the helicopter tape provide a gloss finish compared to the standard paint finish

Hi, thanks for the tips, your wrap looks good.

I deal with vinyl every day but not vehicle wrapping, too specialised a skill but I don't mind doing my own small jobs.

I have a Mojave Beach with Cascavel Anthracite alloys on order (due end October) have just got vinyl samples of silvers, aluminium, greys and matt colours from my suppliers, so may end up doing something different on the awning cover.

Will have a better idea when we get the Cali.

Cheers

Yep, we have also ordered front fog lamps the same as the image. :)

Is that one yours?

Thanks

We also have our fridge behind the passenger seat, it transports fine and is easy to access.

We used to have it between the front seats but with floor carpet it was a bit snug and didn't want to scratch or mark the van!
