Someone posted a link to a German website that makes bamboo chopping boards that go over the gas rings and can stay there when glass top is closed. Can anyone provide a link or name? Lost the tab and nowhere in my browser history. TIA

This one does .... not bamboo but looks thicker than the bamboo variant.

It would be a pretty poor show if all the other boards fitted under the glass lid but not the bamboo one.

.. and I found a picture of the bamboo one from post #2 with the lid closed on the German forums.

Will these be in stock again soon?

Be careful with closing the glass cover over it. We have the wooden version but it might change shape when wet. This caused our cover to break into thousands pieces....

These things seem annoying to me. Constantly having to move them out of they way when you want to cook but dont need to cut. We bought the "foldable" chopping boards (1mm thin). Easy to store in cupboard and easy to clean. Also very handy as a funnel to guide your chopped stuff in the pan as it folds a bit together :)

We have the left hand one only and find quite the opposite. Left in place and used all the time as a surface to put mugs etc. on when using a single burner. Means easy access to both sink and fridge retained, really handy when ie. making the tea. Left hand because it doesn’t cover the ignition switch.

I use the table for that ;)
Also always use 2 hobs at the same time. Eggs/coffee in morning and 2 pans in evening.

I was just wondering why on Earth I would want one of these and you gave a good use case.

The “California Coffee Shuffle” has long been a bugbear of mine. And as you say this would stop the shuffle mugs to the fridge to fill the kettle, shuffle to the tap to get the milk.

Thanks

It’s possible to make something from an ikea bamboo chopping board, some grease proof paper, jigsaw and router. My first and only effort was a bit scrappy, but saved a few quid. But as a thing to have, they really add value and real estate IMG_1045.jpeg
