Beach T6 heater - level 1 heat

Our beach heater does not work on level 1. I am sure I used to be able to set it to be on infinite time at level 1 and it would switch on and off. Now it turns off after a few mins and then goes back to the time display.
If I put it on level 2 it will stay on all night, but it is too hot.

Has anyone else tried level 1 with infinite time?

Could the ambient temperature be too high?

I thought that, however it did this in March when it was v cold. If it is that, then it's an annoying feature as ambient temp often drops overnight!

Possibly, but the fault here is it "resets" to the off mode with just a clock.
When on level 2 it runs all night and never resets back.
I have disconnected the battery to reset it, so I will try again tonight!

It seems disconnecting the leisure battery fixed it. Stayed on all night at Level 1
