It was last year when I was looking to buy cable locks to secure a couple of bikes to the carrier
I was in a well known motor factor outlet queuing to purchase a heavy duty cable lock when a voice from behind said 'if your locking bikes with that forget it'
I turned to the grinning young man who continued to say "I'm a bike thief  and I would cut through that cable in less than a couple of minutes with minimal noise using a tool I can conceal in my sock!
He also went on to advise me to use quality d locks because they are more difficult to cut and would need a grinder and attract to much attention with the noise (what a nice gentleman)!
I didn't thank him, but I did change the cable to a couple of d locks

Has any one had the misfortune with cable locks, was he right ?

I had been worried about this as cables are pants. So I did a bit of research and you need an Almax immobiliser series chain with squire lock. I also use a D lock to secure wheels to frame.

Its expensive but worth every penny. I'd go for 1.5 mtrs/2...wrap around bikes and carrier.
Its also heavy like my brother :smile

I went for the series 3.

Also look into other parts of the forum about securing carrier..

ooops sorry..i went nuts and got the series 4.

Is the lock a optional extra or is it incorporated with the chain
Does look a chunky piece of work though

Cheers
