Bike rack thule type key barrel

I was aiming to fit one of my standard thule set key barrels to the VW type bike carrier locking arm yesterday. The master key does not lift the barrel out....... I notice the fitted barrel has a number starting with R while all the barrels sold by thule have N before the number..... I would like to use as few keys as possible... Any thoughts? Extra master key for loan anyone?

Only got two keys with my VW bike rack, no 'master key' I don't think they are supplied. Master keys normally open loads of locks so would not be good supplying people with them.
I take it you are talking about the genuine VW bike rack ?

Yes it is the original VW rack.... just want to avoid carrying a load of keys around. Thule actually provide these very keys to switch out barrels when unlocked..... But regular THule barrels and keys have numbers starting with N when VW seem to have R...

I keep my water tank key & bike rack key in the ash tray, they never leave the van. I only have my front door key on the van key ring, I hate bunches of keys.
