After a few days in Vilafranca I headed back for France through the tunnel
Back into the mountains

Just love these Spanish roads

Last stop in Spain, van loaded up again.

Waiting at the tunnel for a large vehicle to come through

France from the tunnel

Looking back to the border from the Col de Aspin.. (Tour de France route)

The Pic du Midi from the Col de Aspin, the Col de Tourmalet is to the left of the peak.

On the Col de Tourmalet. Totally deserted, didn't see another vehicle for 15 miles

Sunset from the Col

Big problem at night is rockfalls onto the road, need to be very careful and to watch out for llamas. (yes llamas) Seen them up here before but there were dozens on them on the road refusing to move so I had to thread my way round them

A couple of days in Cauterets doing some jobs on the house and back off north for the ferry.
I stayed overnight on a site near Poiters, Camping Futureiste, very handy as it's open all year.
Sunset over Futureoscope from the site.

Next day I visited the Auto Museum at Chatellerault. Been meaning to go for years but never got round to it.
Well worth the 5 Euros entrance if you are at all interested in the history of cars and bikes.
It's housed in the old French national arms factory, their equivalent of the Woolwich Arsenal I guess.

Early folding bike, handy for the Cali.

If you're old enough you'll recognise this as the Maigret car

1950s garage mock up

My favourite, forerunner of the Veyron

Calikev heaven

Weirdest exhibit. Built by a German POW in WW2 while working on a farm, capable of 60kph apparently. Bonkers.

Another overnight on the campsite and back home via Calais.
2800 miles, 33mpg which I was happy with romping up and down motorways and over the Pyrenees twice.

Great pictures Brian especially Rossi & the scooters one :thumb

What a fabulous trip. Very inspiring. 30 degs sounds very tempting indeed!
