High winds and empty wheelie bins resulted in significant damage to my pride and joy. Several dents of various shapes and sizes plus nearside rear lights panel cracked.

Looking for advice please. Use local, reputable body repair outfit or back to dealership??

Quote has come in at around £2800 and insurance agreed to cover.

Many of thanks

VW dealers use local people too some use their own! The best advice I can give is to go to their place of work and ask to look at some of their work/finish. Be careful as I’d say 70% of them have sub standard finished (in my eyes but I am one fussy man)

I know a superb one in Bristol but your not in Bristol. Best put your location or are you happy to travel.

Depends if you wish to maintain the VW Corrosion or Paintwork Warranty?

If not, Best local body shop.

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of that!!

If you speak to your local dealer he will probably recommend an authorised one. All work done is then warranted. Won’t be cheap though so fine if it’s on the insurance. If not still worth asking and getting a quote.

In for a penny, in for a £, so go official and maintain your paintwork warranty. Your NCB is blown so no point skimping.

I trust that much of the damage is beyond 'pulling' is it? I follow a dent guy on facebook and the results he gets are amazing.

Was going to suggest PDR. (Paintless Dent Removal)

I had a full wheelie bin fall over onto the front wing of my Audi. Guy came around, spent 2hrs on it and you couldn't see it. Brilliant.

Thanks for all help and guidance. Van now with Cragg &Roberts of Preston. They have experience of VW California repairs. Clarified that their warranty covers their work and VW warranty remains in tact for rest. No claims protection on insurance allows for 2 claims in 3 years so going ahead. Just £150 excess to pay. I'll let you next week if it all goes pear shaped - but I am optimistic!
