My Cali insurance is due on the first of February, three days before my four score birthday. Last year I paid £325 for UK comprehensive insurance and breakdown cover with a five thousand mile limit. I had shopped around and all of the lower premium quotes were based on the LV Highway insurance as underwriter, one of which I took.
My renewal this year was quoted at £400, maybe not too bad given reports of astronomical increases, but nevertheless I again resorted to comparison sites to see what was available. Surprise; the best combined quote on a like for like basis with last year was £313. The insurer was Ripe insurance and I've never heard of them. They advise that they are ERS, Syndicate 218 at Lloyds; the policy is a specialist motorhome policy and seems to cover all of the points that @WelshGas would have you check before buying.
I am posting this to let others know that in the crazy world of insurance it might be worth getting a quote from this company.

Been going since 2002:

Few reviews here,

Based on those reviews not very confidence inspiring. I would personally stick with a known entity who are familiar with insuring Campervans.

Interesting. Maybe I should have done a bit more research, but It wouldn't have changed my choice because the premium is ultra competitive. The product is definitely set up for motorhomes and ticks all the boxes (including some limitations). It looks like the customer service is lacking somewhat and that is as important as the product, but it's only a sample of six and most non vehicle, as it's a specialist provider. Let's hope that I don't need to test it!
Looking at the Trust Pilot comments, it's interesting that somewhere along the line Aviva is involved. When I mentioned this to my present insurer, (broker) they wouldn't believe it. The Certificate of Insurance is issued in the name of Ripe, i.e. the Lloyds syndicate; so the management of a claim is down to some (unknown) management company.

Give Safeguard a try. We're with them currently at at £400 per annum w/ 10k miles, commuting, and mid/early 30s.
