I have a list of things I must get around to buying befor any serious trips anywhere.
Most from the suggestions of others on the forum.
Here it is, what's on yours?

In case it gets hot...
Brandrup air safe tailgate hook to allow air flow at night in the tail end.
Silvered emergency blanket to stop the fridge over-heating
Brandrup top sail silver side panel

In case it's windy (outside...)
Wind stoppers for front windows VW stick on ones (they look better)
Hold down kit for awning
Bungee

Other stuff
Spare safe if park anywhere dodgy

Sorry for being stupid but how does the Silvered emergency blanket stop the fridge over-heating?

Read it on here somewhere.
I think you put it down the outside of the van in full sun and it stops it getting hotter.

I always slide the plastic screen open from the storage cupboard to shade the top of the fridge (or most of it) when necessary
Not to say skylarks idea isn't better

I read park in the shade, on that side, and take out the cover and leave the cupboard door open

We used this kind of blanket last summer in Croatia.
Pros:
- light
- cheap
- very small if packed
- you can use stickers/small magnets (?) to stick it to your Cali

Cons:
- cheap
- easily destroyed

We bought a more (hopefully) durable blanket, but didn't used it since then. And I'm not sure if it works or not if it is anyway better to park in the shade.
