A friend of ours once drove thirty miles to work only to discover that their cat had been hiding in the engine compartment. Apparently, despite being relieved to be discovered, the creature appeared to be none the worse for it's experience.
I must stress that this was some years ago in times when engine compartments contained 50% engine and 50% fresh air. These days you'd have trouble stuffing the smallest of cute fluffy kittens under the bonnet.
