Campervanbits Awning tie-down kit

Hi,

I have the kit from the club shop here for my T6.1 Cali Coast: https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/shop/product/campervanbits-tie-down-kit
The kit is really good and almost identical to the genuine Thule one I have seen, except they had a hole at the end of the peg for the spring to insert into. I just couldn't make the springs clip go round the peg lug and seat satisfactorily. One pinged off in slightly gusty winds. I've reverted to using carabiners for now until I can understand what I'm doing wrong!

So, please help!! What am I doing wrong??

Would it work if the peg was 90 degrees different, so the welded on peg was to the side?

Thanks, I did wonder that. The peg is actually v shaped (difficult to see in the pic), so I belive the stength in the peg is to have it this way, with the V shape pointing away from the van. Well that's how I've always used V shaped pegs for tents etc.
I'm after a pic showing the peg in use, which should clear this up.
