For our Easter break we too our second trip in our new California Beach and after a last minute look at the weather we decided that Valais looked like the best option for the long weekend.
We arrive late on Thursday night after some horrendous traffic but were given a warm welcome and managed to setup the pitch in the dark without too much issue. We then enjoyed a meal at the very busy campsite restaurant.
The next day we were greeted with glorious sunshine and finished off setting up camp
After a walk to see if the local park was open we returned to the campsite for a couple of games of boule and a marathon ping pong session.
The campsite had three toilet blocks, the one closest to our pitch had quite small cubicles and a couple of campers stopped by to tell us the best toilet block was at the back of the campsite. This was a port building but contain a very large showroom with a nice high pressure shower.
The camp site has a pool but I cannot report if it is any good as it was not open at this time of year.
On Saturday we went to Sion which is a very interesting town with a number castles and museums. It is about 5km walking distance along a pleasant path along the Rhone. There are buses and trains to Châteauneuf-Conthey which is about 10 minutes from the campsite
Whilst we were there there was an extraordinary amount of tree pollen falling on the site, for which the staff were most apologetic and explained that this happens for about 2 weeks from this time and is then over. There is no onsite shop but the TCS campsite just across the road has a small store which you are free to use. The staff were very friendly but the site seems to be mostly permanent pitches. I would be happy to go back that but would avoid this time as the pollen caused some of us some issues.
