We are planning a trip next June to Spain and was looking for a one night stop over near Beziers as we shall be travelling down the A75 on the first leg of our trip.

Any recommendations on campsite would be appreciated.

Camping Les Sablons, Avenue des Mûriers, 34420 Portiragnes, Three great pools, direct walk to beach, all facilities are great including on site shop/entertainment, ACSI card accepted, Bus into Beziers just outside.

That’s quite near my neck of the woods in France. You could stop over somewhere near Lac du Salagou. The scenery is spectacular. Plenty of places to cycle/walk and the lake is used for watersports - sailing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. Even if you don't have time to stay long, I think it's a better bet than Beziers.

You come off the A75 at junction 57, Clermont l'Herault, which is about half an hour before Beziers. It's then 20 to 30 minutes to the lake, depending on where you want to stay. There is a large campsite at the lake - I haven't stayed there, but have hired bikes from the VTT centre next door and it all looks fairly reasonable.

If you are up for it, there are also several Aires de Camping Cars (overnight parking & basic facilities) around the lake. Moureze is well worth going to, there are spectacular, almost lunar, landscapes around there, but all the aires are in very nice spots.

I’ve stayed at Les Sablons (in a static) in May and it was great - standard Yelloh Village stuff.

We had a very nice stay a few years ago at Camping Les Peupliers in Colombiers. Little site with good restaurant and small pool, but in a really quiet village location surrounded by local wine producers and right on the canal. It was very pleasant after a truly horrendous site in Sort, Spain where we stayed while doing off-roading in the Pyrenees!
