Have been having thoughts of getting a small caravan to tow behind our California. Something along the lines of an Eriba or an Adria Action to use as a base while away.
Does anyone else do this?

I tow an enclosed car transporter trailer behind mine - tows like a dream. You’ll have no problems

Towed a Eiriba for many years and it towed really well. Just switched to a Basecamp 2. It is wider so the van needs additional towing mirrors. Also fuel consumption is not as good. However it is a lot newer and more facilities and warmer inside and less light comes in as the Eiriba raising roof has cloth sides, so same as California for light getting in.So far only used new caravan once so still getting to know it.

However having a caravan with the California is a great combination. If you search this site you should find many pictures California and caravans.

We do. We have a Knaus sport & fun: https://www.knaus.com/en-uk/caravans/sport-fun/highlights/ We have the colourful version although they do a black version that is a more subtle if that's your thing. We love it, we originally had an Eriba Triton which was also lovely but the Knaus has a permanent bed which was a game changer for us, it is lovely to be able to relax in the lounge then just go to bed without playing Tetris with cushions etc. It also looks a lot more modern inside, no beige which was a winner for us. The shower set up works really well considering the space constraints and we love the large rear door and the massive "garage" is a real bonus. I am not sure we are the people it is aimed at being in our sixties and not at all sporty but it suits our requirements perfectly, it is easy to tow and set up fits on our drive and is the perfect answer to those longer breaks away when the Cali can feel a little cramped. For us up to a week = the Cali, over a week = the Knaus unless we are going places with restricted access such as the Scottish Highlands and islands. In our opinion it the perfect set up.

We also have a caravan which we tow on some trips it is an Across caravan 375 Arena made in Spain.
It is the ideal set up. Leave it on site and move around with the Cali.IMG_4103.pngIMG_4101.png
