2015 Cali SE. Just about to set off for trip to UK from Ireland. Short drive today and clutch pedal got floppy. Lifted with foot and was ok. Happened several times and was ok when lifted. Now seems to come back up. Any ideas? Trip will involve about 1000 miles.

Check / top up your brake fluid asap, as it also used for the clutch.

Ours went straight to the floor and stayed there! needed new slave cylinder, master cylinder, clutch & flywheel. Approx £1200.

Fluid levels look fine. Will take care as we drive and pray . Have AA Rescue in worst case scenario.

Hopefully it’s just the Master cylinder.

(Engine needs to come out to replace the Slave cylinder, hence reason for changing clutch etc at same time.)

Had conversation with our local mechanic.who had a look. Advised against trying to use it. Decided to leave van with him, take car and tent instead.
He thinks if worst case scenario with gearbox out €700’- €1000 but if only master cylinder then less. He can do while we’re away. Thanks for your input.

Yep had the same recently however it presented as a sudden failure. I think the OP issue points more to a master cylinder failure.

Yes, would agree. Ours was instant with no warning!…luckily went on our driveway.

I’ve had two slave cylinder failures on my van, first was pedal straight to the floor second failed like yours has. The oil collects on the undertray so a leak dripping onto the ground may not be visible. Gearbox removal is required I’m afraid, the clutch may well need replacement if it’s been contaminated, also get the DMF checked over to see if that’s still in good order.

I have a 2015 Cali - the fluid leaked out when I was on the A30 - clutch went to the floor when I was on a hill and someone crashed into the back of me writing their car off. Definitely get it checked out before you go!

Had the same issue recently driving to Portsmouth, almost made it, recovery back to our mechanic, slave cylinder was the issue, so while there we had the clutch and fuel mass fly wheel done as well. Good luck
