I think there are a few other threads about this, but I just wanted to share some info with other members.

Recently the touchscreen of my Composition Media unit fitted to my VW California failed to respond to touch. This I learned was a common problem with these units. I found a local business who repairs these screens with excellent reviews online including some on the California Owner’s Club Forum. I had it repaired but brightness and image quality was noticeably reduced. I wasn’t happy with that and the guy re-fitted my original screen and gave me a refund. VW were no help on this, other than offering a replacement unit at £1900 +vat + fitting

I found SatNav Systems online, based in Surbiton, Surrey and emailed them with details. Hamid, their Executive Director replied, he was helpful and informative. I had a few more questions, which Hamid replied to very promptly. Based on the helpfulness of Hamid’s emails, information on their website and online reviews, I decided they were indeed a reliable specialist company. I booked to bring my van down to them despite it being a 230 miles each way Journey to Surbiton. (They do repairs by post as well, I just preferred them to remove and replace the unit.) I hadn’t found anyone else nearer to home that came anywhere close to SatNav Systems in terms of being specialists in the repair of these units. Check out their website www.satnavsystems.com

One thing I learned is that not all these units are fitted with the same screen. there are different versions of screens for different versions of the same unit as these are used in Skoda Yeti, SEAT Alhambra as well as around 10 different VW models (including the T6) and each one is different in specification so you cannot just mix and match different screens with different units.

They also upgraded and updated the firmware and software in the unit. This was all done in not much more than an hour, followed by a chat with Hamid about what had been done and making sure I was happy with the work carried out. Everything is working as it should if not better than it was before. They might be more expensive than some, but their work has a 12 month guarantee and they fit an upgraded OEM screen not prone to failing.

I was impressed with the service from start to finish, right from the first email response to the job being done. I can’t praise them too highly and it was definitely worth the 460 mile round trip.

Glad you had a positive experience, I've been singing Sat Navsystems praises for years. They quite rightly deserve the recommendation.
