Can anyone recommend some places to park up and chill for a couple of hours (not overnight) in the South Wales area? Thanks.

The Blorenge near Abergavenny is nice; the car park at Keepers Pond can get busy in fine weather but lots of alternative parking spots. Great views and an occasional ice cream van.

Ogmore Beach, Dunraven Beach and Llantwit major Beach which has a small cafe as well. All have access to the Coastal Path.

Don't forget to bring some £1 coins. Some beaches are Pay & Display and only have coin machines.

& bring lots. Ogmore is £6/4hrs now

You can try Saunderfoot. There’s 2 car parks seafront one is slightly more expensive and lower carpark is first half hour free. Some really nice fish and chip shops too.

Pendine Sands:
site of many world land speed records, some spectacularly unsuccessful. small tribute exhibition to some of those attempts right next to the beach car park.

large Car park, cafe, few shops and 7 miles of beach, rock pools etc.

close by:
Lagharne , home to Dylan Thomas, small village, nice views overlooking the estuary.

Also in the Brecon Beacons near Merthyr Tydfil are some great spots around the reservoirs, try Taf Fechan car park, but lots of car parks to choose from also there are some waterfalls just above that between the two reservoirs with car parks, just drive along the road that goes along the shore and you will find a selection of nice places to stop, gets busy at the weekend though
