But time moves on and Maurice the Traveller will be going to a new home in a few days. It will be a sad day in many ways as we have so many wonderful memories of out trips away, but an exciting one all the same as we pick up our new home on wheels - a Dethleffs Globetrail Advantage 540 DR. We hope it will perform as well as Maurice did for our adventures and as our daily drive. Consequently, we have a list of useful bits and pieces, such as two toppers, a screen cover, gas bottle, window grills, drive away awning, pop up wc tent... Does amyone have any view on the best place to advertise these things?

Probably on this forum. I’ve had lots of issues with Facebook Marketplace, but on the forum you’re dealing with ‘known’ people who drive Cali’s !

Do you have to be a VIP member to post an ad?

I've had a few van things off Marketplace, but generally I do approach with caution. I've worked on the basis that career criminals probably focus their attention high value stuff with wider appeal rather than niche Cali kit. Quite a lot of the vehicle listings on there are scams though.

Ebay has recently done away with seller fees, which is welcome as they had crept up to over 15%, so that might start to become a useful platform again.

Every time I’ve sold on FM I’ve had fraudulent approaches. Usually the courier - insurance fraud. 3 on one sale (value only about £50 ! ).

Yup. A roland FR4X accordion. 3200 value. Listed for 2000. Bargain. Approach with Caution. Can I view? Sorry, I am travelling and in Mallaig, but if you leave a deposit, I will reserve it for you. ... NO THANK YOU!

Do people actually fall for this, or was this criminal really stupid? ... (no wonder they are also called chancers).

Ha - yes I've had a lot of those approached when selling. "I am on an oil rig but my brother/courier will pick it up. I just need your bank details...".
