Hi

We are struggling to decide on which size would suit us best for a new dometic fridge.

We are only a couple so just two of us and we have a beach 3 seater Cali. We usually camp for a number of days sometimes a week but not often.

The 36 L sounds too big in terms of external dimensions. But is the 25L big enough?

What are people’s experiences with these two models

Thanks

Marcus

We have CFX40 yes it’s big but running alongside the cal fridge it’s perfect for taking everything we need.
Personal preference I guess.

Can’t comment on the 25 we have the 36 in a Beach. We dithered re size pre purchase but wanted something that would cover a week.Had it close to 4years, was the right choice for us. If you make a template for both sizes, using cardboard box or something then put in the ‘usual’ supplies you take away, it may help you decide.

CFX3 35 should easily be sufficient for 2/3 people and will fit under MFB in the boot (anything bigger will not fit under the board); If you need ice, maybe combine with a small Yeti coolbox. Keeps ice frozen for at least 4 days.

We have the CFX28 in our 3 seat bench Beach.

We have trialled it extensively over the past six years, including on a 12 month long tour of 33 European countries.

It is sufficiently large for four for four weeks: the first “four” being two adults and two children under - four!

But during the first days of being loaded for four for four weeks, you won’t have space to chill beers, white wine or milk. Rely instead on red wine and long life milk.

We are a couple (mainly) in a three seat Beach - the CFX28 is perfect in terms of bulk and capacity - it fits under / on top of the MFB - but we normally keep it in the living space. We managed a 16 week break away last summer in Greece and it worked very well for beer wine dairy stuff fruit veg etc - you need to manage the space but if i was to replace it id get the same.

It has a battery protection capability that can be over-sensitive and will automatically turn itself off showing a low voltage warning - As others have reported, we found the plug / socket / lead combo plugged into the cigarette socket inefficient and prone to these voltage drop 'faults' - we cut off the CL plus and wired / fused it directly onto the leisure battery which solved the problem.

Your profile says “ocean” ?
your post says “Beach” - may help future queries is you correct this.

As mentioned above, Make sure you check the size & height of any fridge if you intend storing it under the multiflex.
The multiflex in a beach differs from an ocean In height.

T6 Beach, I have a cfx 35, able to live out if that easily and you can stand a standard wine bottle up in it - consider what you will put in it when in use!

owned my CFX 35 for over 4 years, it was a game changer as far as storage of food and drink in warm climes, enables you to shop and store food and drink for a few days for four people, longer for two.

previous tent camping using a cool box vs Compressor fridge = night and day. The compressor fridge / freezer is like having your home fridge freezer with you camping

you can set it up at home, pre chill / freeze what you want to take initially without putting a draw on the van leisure battery.
if using purely as a fridge, Setting to a frozen temp initially for a short period of time when at home on 240v wall socket for 20 minutes immediately prior to placing the fridge / freezer In the van, then setting to a fridge temp works well As the fridge does not need to draw the battery straight away, (you then start driving, which keeps the battery state good) .

as far as power usage on the LB it will last in excess of three days no problem and there is a setting on the fridge to choose a “safety” cut out for the battery level / fridge should the voltage drop to the predetermined level therefore protecting the LB from overdraw / drain.

can be used either behind passenger seat, in the boot area or taken out and put in awning. Dometic fridges are Expensive but IMO worth it.

To give some some idea of a Cfx35 :
Various locations based on location and duration of stay and particular set up & temperature outside etc.

Keep in mind that even if the cfx35 is not that heavy by itself, when fully loaded can be a strain to get in and out of under the mfb so a sliding tray is a game changer
