Has anyone used Nomadic, the Driftr App? It’s for meeting others in vans.. not sure if it’s a good idea as I am a lone female..

Where did you find that app? As per Indegogo, the app never got funded and did not go into production. Also cannot find it on either the app store nor the play store.
Is your screen shot from YouTube?
The app on indegogo - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/driftr-the-first-social-app-for-vandwellers#/ closed with just 13% funded and so will not have gone into production.

IMO the app is riddled with red flags.
Maybe give it a wide berth and join one or two of the excellent social meets arranged by members of this forum?

Hi Holly are you on Facebook? If yes there are lots of groups just for women, and I found that a great way to get out and about in my van when I want company.

I wasn’t on but joined just for the van and made sure I don’t accept friend requests or get too much other rubbish coming through. There is a lot of overlap with the groups. Here are ones I’m in and others I can think of;
Lady campers connecting

Campervan retreats for women to unwind in nature

Southern belles
The VW California community
I tend to be happy on my own but do like a meet up now and then, and it’s good for festivals to be in a gang of women

If you go on the California one don’t buy anything there are so many scammers, in fact don’t buy anything through Facebook unless you know the seller

Hi, thank you so much. I have been resisting Facebook, rather spend my time in nature in my van than on screens.. but maybe the time has come.. good idea to not accept friend requests, any other tips to limit it welcome..?

I would not do either - FB nor the app. You'll meet enough people through travelling and serendipity.

Yes, true and in summer there are nearly always people around.
I enjoy my own company and the freedom of looking at the weather forecast and deciding when to go and which direction to head, that’s the point of the van! Wouldn’t want to be committed to a time or destination and often don’t feel like company either, and I think FB could be like opening a can of worms!! This is the only social media I do and I’ve learned so much here, v grateful!

I check a couple of times a week. I didn’t think I would do much, but have enjoyed the things I have joined in with and found lots of places to go paddle boarding and walking. None of my pre van friends go camping so it’s a good way to meet similar folks for shared activities

Hmm, On FB do you not accept friend requests from pre van friends? Lots of my friends and family have it and I don’t want to get involved!

Totally understand, I really could not be bothered with all that. I am Dora Volks on there not me and live in various places around the world and was born in 1912 somewhere in Indonesia. That confuses the advertisers. It has been worth it.
