Dust Removal From Canvas Roof

At some point, we'll be visiting southern Spain, where it's always dusty and rains sometimes. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the canvas? A carpet beater seems a bit OTT, but maybe a light hoovering could be the answer? Or...?

This may be in the manual of course, but that's coming with the Cali in a couple of weeks.
