E6 engine travelling in Europe

I'm now retired and looking to buy a VW California for extended camping trips across Europe. My budget is £40k but wondered if I should dig deeper into savings - specifically how essential it might be for me to buy a van with an E6 engine regarding any new regulations?

Any California 2018 onwards should be Euro 6 engine, some before that date.
