According to that it’s a imperial thread as per standard Hozelock etc?

I would’ve assumed being Euro it would be some form of metric equivalent.

From my memory, not the best, I filled up from one of those with my standard fittings with no problem. Later on in Portugal I came across a random size that I needed to pick up locally. You should be OK.

either 1/2inch or 3/4inch. For some reason in France they use 8, 10, 12, 14, 16mm for domestic pipework yet use imperial for tap connectors, bizarre

Standard UK garden hose type as used on UK external water taps, sometimes you will come across one with a smaller thread so buy the adaptor for them as well.

Just occasionally you will come across a non-threaded tap for which I use an old fashioned washing machine hose fitting (like a small rubber funnel) connected to a hose fitting.

There is one other water outlet used in France, this looks a bit like a compressed air hose fitting, I don't know what should fit that properly BUT I have a garden hose double male ended fitting which includes a tap, this fits but does leak. Something like this, it's not a problem if you keep clear.
