Sorry to start a new thread but i couldn't find the old one.
My electric roof fail in September and only by the grace of Volkswagen Assist was i able to get away on my holiday on time (all previously reported).
i wrote and complained to Volkswagen who telephoned me (spooky I didn't give them my number but they found it in their records).
Spoke to Antony (who has dealing with the Club over the trip to Germany next year)
He had no real practical help to give except that the information had been passed to VW in Germany. They cannot guarantee any parts (failure after only 6 months in a VW!) but he did offer me a free service which was gratefully accepted! He also said that if i missed my ferry because of this VW would ensure that i was not out of pocket!!
I did raise with him also the impractical glass lid on the cooker and asked him to pass that upwards too.
So, not entirely satisfactory but I have got a free service so it shows that complaining is worthwhile.

What failed on the roof ?

from a personal point I have no issue with the glass cooker top I like it

The roof was open and when i tried to close it the little round button on the control panel above the driver stuck.
The van was undriveable and the replacement control panel cost £600 (plus fitting). And it took a day to repair so no car for a day. It happened a day before going on holiday but Vokswagen Assist wonderfully, repaired in time for me to go. From the forum is not a rare thing to happen.
Re the glass lid, there will be 'fors' and 'againsts' but, if you read the forum, you will see the problems. Also, having previously owned a T4 Westfalia Cali they have a solid top with a fold down stainless steel drainer board/worktop inside, a much better and more practical arrangement.
