I just got a wee hug from my wife for driving so well on our first trip away in our 6.1 Coast (there’s a wee history as I’m a biker and, apparently, still have a few bike bad habits).
We live in Nice so somewhere warm was welcome and that was Camping Parc Mogador in Sanary-sur-Mer beside Toulon. Motorway at first - easy thanks to our Ulyss pass - and then the lovely red road to Agay for lunch at the superb Coast.
Once settled at the site we got to business - seeing what we didn’t know and learning how to do it.
First electricity. The pitches are large enough to shoogle round and get the wee hookup cable attached… but the cable had a French domestic plug. Mogador reception - who were lovely - loaned an adapter. We have power.
Next, water. We had two 6l bottles for our use but I wanted to fill the tank for washing etc. Well, the intended watering can may work on motorhomes but was u/s for us and just *issed straight back out.
OK. Who needs water?
Gas next and a what a lark. I got the bottle fitted and then Maggie worked out the taps to turn. Click click click (and several score more) and no heated response. We must have been clicking for half an hour (obv we took it in turns to show the other was doing it wrong).
Then the German lady from the Calif on the next pitch down took pity and asked if she could help… of course!
She went round the back and … turned on the gas at the bottle. It was probably mentioned at delivery but no bottle was fitted so we forgot.
Back to clicking, however, and still nowt.
Maggie checked the piezo wires underneath and one wouldn’t stay in place. Fortunately Frau Friendly could offer a box of matches… bingo!
The rest was as you’d want - a fun break away from it all. Even the feared leisure heating worked a dream.
First stop on the way home was Narbonne Accessories to buy a 15m hookup cable (no adapters left)
