Foldable E-bikes for california

I am looking to get 2 lightweight (foldable) e-bikes for an upcoming trip to France. My wife already has an e-bike but it’s too big and heavy to lift it off and on to a standard vw bike role and also makes the vehicle taller thus preventing us from getting under 2m barriers. Has anyone faced similar challenge? We only need something small to zip around villages. We have seen the Fido d3 Pro which are only about £400 but wondered if they will be okay for carrying a 13 stone man around! Thanks

I did a lot of research on this. We ended up with 2 x ADO Air 20 folding e-bikes. No oily chain or gears as they use a belt drive. The company is based in Poland and sells to the EU , U.K. and USA. Internet only sales but they have a number of Independant businesses in U.K. for repairs etc.
Very pleased with them.

Have you seen the Thule easyload ramp, it makes loading e-bikes on their towbar racks really easy.
I use Brompton’s to get around in London and rate their electric version too. When folded their chain is in the middle of the folded bike.
They are tough and certainly able to take the weight off.
