I made me a summary of all the extra tunings, DIY's, extra equipment,... that grew onto the Auberg-ine, after experiencing all kinds of settings (as mobile office, as camper,...) and weathers,... Might be useful for the so many new newbies around here, even if of course very personal and specific. What I still carry around now might be crazy for most people, but to me it's my favorite omni-toy. Fridge, water, gas, all permanently topped, ready to fly out at whatever spur of the moment!

Auberg-ine Front Part organisation

1. Jump leads + 20m Hook-up cable + air compressor + oil storage on top of main battery (post #89)
2. DIY Ceiling storage made out of our famous safety net (for scarfs, hats, caps...)
3. Storage of Reimo door top ventilation (double grille) in small net above roof shutter. edit: Net also holds picnic table/bar counter post #283 Edit: + sunscreen organizers (CD's, cards, glasses,...); see post #170.
4. Hooks to fix Kelty Bestie Blanket (hung at shutter) at B-pillars in case of stealth camping. Edit: DIY stealth mesh hung at Ikea Sunnersta side rails (see post #149).
5. Mobile ventilator hung in front of towel (no vibrations)
6. Ikea colander/ herbs garden (can also be hung at glass cover above the sink) (post #23); see extra herbs at #359.
7. DIY slide-in phone dock in cubby hole (no more cable fuzz to connect with CarNet)(post #48); edit #85 GPS sunscreen
8. VW coat hanger/ drying rack (passes Brandrup pockets); DIY neck-rest/duvet bags see post #156
9. Warning triangle strapped in front of driver chair. Edit: see post #172

18. DIY library (Sunware); under seat: NOCO Genius GB40 Jump booster, window defrost spray, first-aid kit, fluo jackets, magnetic defrost/sun protecting window cover, and the VW Bible; edit: + pressure sprayer for shower (besides library), see post #113
19. Brandrup mosquito screen / boots storage post #282 / Photo Gallery post #290/
20. Rotan container/Luggable-Loo. Serves as stool (I prefer not to rotate driver seat), footrest, container for roaming stuff (can be fixed at bench drawer, can also contain 2p sleeping bag), waste bin, ice bucket, fishing stool, loo. Bucket independently also for (dish-)washing, carrying water (see post #90)

Auberg-ine Middle Part organisation

1. Sliding Ikea stainless steel hooks (to hang wet coats off the bench/pockets) edit: now Ikea Sunnersta rail, (see post #138) edit: now also Reimo ventilation grid stored at ceiling (see post 100)
2. DIY Ceiling storage made out of unused safety net (shirts&socks&slips pockets, …).
3. 3 Plastic jars (medicine, cables, junk) fixed at ceiling. Ikea led light (post #64)
4. DIY bronze color filter in front of existing white led lights (except for main central light); for lounging mode; edit: now Ikea Sunnersta rail with tablets, containers, hooks (see post #110)

Nice review , but some stuff would not work for me : rear seat storage , seat coat hanger , herbs garden ,...all wonderfull ideas but not mu cup of tea .
Not breaking down your wonderfull and very bright ideas but just for some people might be a bit to much .
It does looks very cosy !
What i do like very much is the cow-skin seat cover , but the other half does not agree.
And the table wrapping , very nice!

It never fails to amaze me how we all pack and use our campers in similar but different ways. Over the years I would say we take less, use all and rarely find we have forgotten something we need. It is about getting it right for one's individual needs. Ikea works well for many Cali owner. Enjoyed your post but would need a Cali map if we took that much with us.

Well, I might not do the Aquarium , but the rest is all quit basic to me. I just need to water the plants and talk to them. Once I removed my shirts. Two days later I spilled sauce at lunchtime, and found myself stupid at the following meeting. Even worse, invited a friend and was without Ricard for the petanque game!

I totally agree about 'justify the space it takes up'. Therefore my selection criteria is that each item should at least have two functions. Blanket=fleece=curtain=pick-nick, stool=footrest=table=container, folding stools and towels serve as headrest for calichair, herbs basket=colander, glasses serve for beer, wine ànd tea, coat hanger= dry rack, curvers serve for muddy stuff, washing and as step, toilet bucket serves also to get water out of the river, etc...
I admit I have the Swiss knife syndrome. You should know that I suffer from loosing the integrated toothpick in them

I think it is fantastic how the van was organized. I might have another closer look (might even print out the picture and explanation) to see if there are some ideas that I can borrow.

I'd hazard a guess 50% or so of all VW campers have a supply of 'herbs' on board....

No, it's from the Stugvik collection. I also bought Ikea Skädis elastics. So drilled 4 holes in the colander and hung it with a pair of these bungees around the headrest. The lower lid of the Stugvik fits perfectly in the sink and also gives a perfect support to position at the chair.
