GC 600 dim infotainment and dash display

I am having a problem with my infotainment & instrument display GC 600 12/2021 model. These are barely visible in the day, better at night. Seems to be defaulting to night mode? The dealership has fix the problem on 2 occasions but the fault has returned. The footwell and overhead cabin light also do not work when this occurs. Anyone with similar experience and/or solution? Thanks

Hello Bentley,

Hm, it sounds a bit like the problem I had a year ago.

Suddenly the radio display, dashboard display got very dim, information not recognisable. The cabin lights didn't work and the emergency and service lights didn't work.

I thought I changed some settings and brought my GC 600 (at the time a few weeks old) to the VW dealer to fix it.

To make a long story short, the fault finding took the best part of summer 2021. 4x times the mainboard was exchanged, the emergency module (the only emergency module for a Crafter in Ireland so far) was changed and so on. The VW dealer was working on it with support from VW Ireland and experts from VW Germany.

Because it was a nightmare we came very close the hand back the camper.

Nevertheless my VW dealer and we kept going and after many weeks the VW figured out that 3x mainboards were defective.Finally the 4th mainboard and changed settings (on advice from VW Germany) did the trick. At the moment it is working.

I hope that only a settings is wrong and that you don't have to go through the same nightmare as we did. Best of luck.

I’ve had 2 main board changes so far, seems from your experience 2 more to go!! Thanks for your input, at least I can be optimistic- there is a solution!! Maybe my dealership can pause with yours and VW Germany?

They spend a lot of time working on the issue. The last effort did the trick. Specialists from VW Ireland as well technicians from the VW dealer and VW Germany Support worked together to get the issues sorted.

At the end what the real issue was I don't know. I was told settings and the mainboard (KFG Steuergeraet) were responsible for the issue and only the 4th mainboard was without issues.

Well, if that was the case VW shouldn't be to much surprised if they are so busy...

Now seeing your post. I’ve had to return to the dealership on 3 occasions for them to change the same item. So far it’s behaving 6+ months, guess third time lucky
