I bought gap insurance to cover the last brand spanking new car I bought form a gap specialist (can't remember who at this remove). Have people bought GI from specialists please? I know there are differing opinions on the usefulness of gap insurance but if anything terrible happened the GAP would be a big one and much more than I could afford to pay out. VW are currently offering gap insurance for £499 for three years.... Any thoughts, experiences, suggestions?

I trust you have read the Threads relating to GAP Insurance in the Insurance Forum?
Many of the Campervans/Caravan specialist insurers include GAP insurance or New Vehicle for Old in their policies for 2 or 3 years. I used Caravan Club for my SE. A California Beach can be more problematic.

I did have a quick read through the threads but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. I'll ask the company we plan to use for the vehicle insurance. Thanks for your suggestions.

I am very interested inon this too , its a huge sum of money to be depreciated not through time but bad luck. I see that Saga offer 2 years or 12,000 miles , whatever comes first and Comfort I think three years 15000, which sounds better , although with Saga one can be travelling out of UK a whole 365 days out of 365 days but with Comfort I understand that is 'only 270 days'.

Talking about insurance here is something I didnt know until last week. If you like me are with SAGA and you are travelling in a foreign ( say EU ) country and perhaps because of a family wedding or illness you have to go home to UK for a week and you thought you could leave your Cali at Faro airport ( if you were in the Algarve ) and be insured you would be wrong ! . Also the same goes for those who have holiday homes abroad and you might stay a month or two at your Finca , your wife drives you to the airport because you have to go home for a business meeting or a medical appointment IF you are the named owner of the Cali and your Cali is safely parked up at your second home and you are out the country YOU ARE NOT COVERED - what a bombshell that could be . Very hard to find all that in the small print , in fact it isnt spelt out I had to squeeze it out of Saga, not that they tried to hide it , it just isnt spelt out. They give the impression that you get the same cover in EU as you do in UK. Hmmmm

I did gap insurance with ALA. seems ok but won't know until it is time to claim which I hope never comes.
