hi, I’m just in the process of purchasing 16”alloy wheels and tyres from Rogue alloys and wonder if this would have any effect on the tyre pressure monitor .

Depends what type of Tyre Pressure Monitor you have.
As said, if the Monitor shows individual pressures then there are wireless sensors in each wheel so they will have to be stopped over or new ones installed in the new wheels.
If the Monitor only indicates you have Low Pressure in a tyre then this system uses the ABS sensors, so all you need to do is Reset the monitor when the new wheels are fitted.

I ordered new ones from Rogue and they fitted them (TPMS). You can use the old ones if TPMS but I did not want the hassle of removing from my old wheels at the time. it was however approx £140

Thanks for reply …just checked my 680 and it does have TPM so I would need the new valves as you did…are new TPM valves easy to set up please or is it something a VW dealer would have to do ?

Rogue can do this if you get the valves from them or send them some valves.

Once you get the wheels it self calibrates and sets up if they have done their thing in setting it up for the vehicle.

Are you sure they have valve sensors? I believe most modern VW’s use the hub brake sensor to measure wheel rotations. As a tyre deflates it reduces the circumstance and thus rotates faster than the other wheels.

Easiest way to tell if your car’s TPMS is measured at the valve is to see how flexible the valve ‘stork’ is. If it’s ridged it’s probably got a sensor on it. If it’s not it’s probably measured at the hub and all you’ll need to do is reset the TPMS when you change the wheels

Hi …on checking the valves are ridged, the read out on the screen in the van has individual pressure shown for each wheel.

Ah, that does sound like it is measured at the valve.
