We recently joined https://www.greenercamping.org , not because of their credentials but because we saw a site we fancied and they only accept members. Have visited a couple of sites since and we’ve been really impressed. You do trade posh facilities and EHU for peace, quiet and wildlife, but that’s ok for us.
This one however exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend.

No dogs,, so not for everyone, but a short walk to a stunning beach and nightly visits from the barn owls.

mwnt beach is a lovely spot nice to see a a nice local campsite near it

We stayed at Cowpots Whitland, Carmarthenshire another site on Green camping ,dog friendly. Huge pitches with own fire pits & own shower/ compost toilet/ washing up facilities . Homemade pizzas.

I really need to plan a camping trip to the UK. This looks great. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you for this great hint.
However, glancing through the maps, I see that not all of these sites do welcome camper vans like our Cali.
In Wales, which is next on our list this year, of the eighty sites, twenty are closed for camper vans. That's one in four.

Regards from Amsterdam,

Marc.

“No dogs”, sounds like heaven…

Wish there were more sites offering this. I’m sure there is a demand for these from folks like me who have been traumatised by dogs when young.

We stayed on one of these last week, at Finchingfield. Beautiful, quiet site, on a lavender farm:

@marchugo , if you are interested in these type of sites in Wales that DO allow campervans, we can recommend these (not member of Greener Campsites, though):

Do they state Motorhomes and Campervans, or just Campervans?
If just Campervans I would give them ring/email. They may not understand the difference and the size/footprint of a California.

They state campervans and motorhomes separately:

However, quite a few I looked at 'accepted' campervans, but in the freetext they were vehicle free camping fields and campervans were 'welcome' to use the car park.

At Finchingfield we found this at the end of the car park/entry to the campsite:

No motor vehicles, only campervans were allowed on the pitches.

At the web site of Greenercamping.org, some campings show the icon Welcome Campervans, but they not allways do welcome our Cali Vans.

Had a conversation with one of them in Wales (will not mention their name), they answered my question of being welcome with a Cali on the field pitches ( they use the icon Campervan Welcome):

Great to hear from you.

I am sorry but we do not allow vehicles on our campsite, it is a vehicle free campsite, only tents allowed on the pitches.

You are very welcome to stay in your campervan in the car park, but you would need to pay the nightly cost of a pitch per night.

£30 peak season and £25 off season.

We‘re not amused to camp on a parking, visiting a green camping site at the full cost of a green pitch...

Marc.
