Hi,

Im based in Ireland. I purchased a T5 2.5 4Motion LWB as an ex utilitys company van. I spent a few months converting it and it now finished and in for a full respray. Maiden voyage is from Ireland through spain, france, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and back to Ireland in October 2018

I have previously done "Overlanding" trips in my 110 Defender traveling to the Arctic Circle in Winter (-20) in Norway through Finland and back through Eastern Europe to Ireland covering 16 Countries in Total.

Waiting to get it back from the spray shop. should be another 2 weeks

That looks like a lot of work. Post some pictures after the van is back from painting. Would be nice to see the final product.

Thanks. Im a novice hobby mechanic so when i got it i had to lean a lot of things. It turned out it had a knocking which seemed like a faulty duel mass flywheel so i took it out and replaced clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and everything along the way including bushes, antiroll links, track rod ends etc, turns out it wasent the flywheel and further inspection found a faulty solenoid on injector 2. so out came the injectors and went off to a specialist. i changed all the seals had them all serviced, changed all the stretch bolts, wiring harness and anything else serviceable along the way.

It passed it CVRT (Irish MOT) last week and the tester came outside to compliment me on how good the underside of the T5 was. I was chuffed that i had bought this blind at auction fault finded it (all be it the hard way) rectified it, successfully converted it and passed its test. It made all the blood sweat and tears worth it over the last 6 months

Welcome , great adventures you done allready , i owned a Def 90 Td5 and did some minor camping with a Hannibal rooftent . Not quiet luxery compared to a Cali . Seems LR and VW vans / Cali owners are much alike
Hope you conversion work out well and love to see more on your future trips.

Absolutely super. When you finish the job, you know the van inside and outside - literately.

If I think that I just able to manage to top up the fluids for the wiper and push comes to shove the oil level
