Gurgling/liquid sound when turning key before ignition...?

Hi,

Recently purchased a 2005 2.5TDI 174 and just have to check with others regarding a noise I’ve never experienced in diesel car...

When I turn the key to the first position before starting the engine I hear something of a fluid/gurgling noise coming from the general front end area of the vehicle... maybe pretty close the driver side.

Anyone experience something similar? Almost like some pump is priming something with fluid or...? I certainly don’t see any leaks under the van.

Anyways, just checking if anyone has heard the same. Haven’t heard this before on a few different TDI vehicles I have had...

Most VW models will operate fuel lift pumps when you open the door or it sees you first begin the process of starting the engine and this is to get the system primed before you actually crank it over.
The think the AdBlue pump is another that also primes.

If you can hear it in the cabin most probably coolant circulating through the heater matrix? Unsure if these have electronic water pumps though.
