I thought of posting this in the “View from your van” thread. But it wasn’t taken from my van, I saw it on the Tandem Club Facebook Page.

Two couples are cycling between Lands End and John O’Groats naked on tandems. One couple LEJOG and the other couple JOGLE.

They are raising money for rewilding, apparently.

Good luck to them.

Gough’s problems mostly occurred once he crossed the border into Scotland where the law on nudity is different to England and Wales.

You will understand the finer points better than I do, but I think pottering around naked only becomes an offence in England and Wales if stripping off is done with the intent to offend.

In Scotland all it takes is for someone to be offended, regardless of the intent of the stripper.

I would guess that it is easier for someone to be offended by a naked individual than a naked couple riding a bike (not one another).

I think I bumped into Stephen Gough once while I was out walking Meg on the North Downs.

Ah, I think it would surprise a lot of people that simply baring your body parts with no ill intent can still be a crime.

I'm no deep expert on the Public Order Acts and I wouldn't comment on Mr Gough's or any other specific case. But if I wandered (pedalled?) around in the nude I might well find myself charged with disorderly behaviour under section 5 of the Act. Even in England and Wales intent to offend is not a necessary element of the offence, it's sufficient if it's "within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress".

Oddly enough it's perfectly lawful to broadcast nudity to all and sundry, or post it on a forum whether r not Cali owners would be alarmed or distressed:

I read a press report that the naked female rider of a naked tandem couple was attacked by a female car passenger who tried to push her off the tandem and called her a prostitute. It happened in Scotland and the attacker is to be prosecuted.
Is this related to the same cycling couple? How many naked tandem riders are travelling our roads these days? (at least two pairs...)

Camping in the woods​

A group was out camping when one of them heard a faint voice. “Fire!” He looked around, but didn’t see any smoke. A few minutes later, a couple of them heard the voice, more urgent this time. “Fire!“

Even though they still didn’t see any smoke, they started following the voice. Every so often, they would hear it louder and louder and more desperate. “Fire!“

Eventually they ended up at the campground’s sanitary facilities, a small outhouse with a single seat. One of the campers managed to pull the door open and found a man waist deep in the muck. They pulled him out and tried to clean him up as best as they could.

The camper who opened the door chastised him, “Why would you yell *FIRE* in the middle of a forest?”

The man looked at him and answered, “Would you have come searching for me if I yelled *sing*?”

It’s easier done than you would think

having done it twice !

I now have a laminated sign on my driver seat as soon as I go on “hook up“ at home , placed in the dash whilst away camping.

I also e sure there is plenty of slack and where possible loop it around the drivers side so I give myself the best chance to see it.

fortunately the plugs are designed the fail first

I used to do that too to prevent this same accident, until I realized my T6 would throw an alert in the control unit when I turn the ignition key if the hookup is still connected. Yours doesn't do this? Mine is an Ocean

Then I expect the control unit would throw a hissy fit if you try to drive when hookup is still connected. I stopped using a note on the dash to remind me to unplug now. It also complains if you try to drive with the roof bed up, same beeping sound. Don't ask me how I know . Took me 10 meters until I stopped to figure out what it was
