Hi, thanks for adding us.

We are Jo and Jon from Cambridgeshire. We ordered a 6.1 Beach Camper 10 days ago and thought we'd have around a year to plan and prepare for it to arrive. But, we got a call from the dealer today to say we have a provisional build date of week 35 and he expects it to be confirmed in a few days and possibly brought forward to July this year!!

We are beyond excited, and our heads are spinning with all the stuff we need to figure out . Joining this forum seemed like a good first step!

@Beachfamily22 Congratulations!

What kind of spec have you gone for?

We ordered a Beach Camper in March this year but expecting a long wait based on everything we have read on this forum.

Hopefully leadtimes are getting better across the board

Wow that’s amazing, I’m thrilled for ye guys. I’m on the west coast of Ireland and we ordered or Beach camper last July 2021, build date was may 16th 2022, so we are hoping to have ours in the coming weeks. So I totally get the buzz you guys are in. Hope it all goes to plan.

Hi @BugglePopples ,
We added a fair few extras, including the AC, Parking heater, LEDs, light & vision pack, parking sensors and camera, towbar prep, and heated seats. We were warned when we ordered that we'd be waiting up to a year, so the call today totally floored us ( in a good way!). Hopefully it means you won't be waiting so long either

May well be because of the issues with getting side assist components for Ocean's meaning there's gaps in the build schedule that need filling

That’s just great news for you… I guess you got a building slot from a cancelled order, most probably for a California with the same configuration as you’ve chosen. For production planning it’s much easier to transfer the order of the vehicle (in this case to you), than to delete the order and reschedule the production…

Yep, side assist was no longer available as an option for the Beach when we ordered. We also didn't spec electronic folding side mirrors, which I think are also suffering from the chip shortage, so maybe that helped?

We have a Cali Ocean on order since 31/07/21. We were told about 3 weeks ago that side assist was an issue and if we still wanted it then we’d have to wait another 3 months which I expected would put us at week 37-39. Was told today that we’ve now got a confirmed build week of week 27 (4th July) so I hope they haven’t removed side assist when I said I still wanted it and would wait. I’ve now got to get myself excited again after writing this summer off !

I hope it's good news, however it sounds like the factory is so mixed up at the moment, anything could happen. Mine has been in build three weeks and assumption is it's parked up in the factory waiting for something - unfortunately VW's systems are all over the place so statuses are not being updated correctly.
