Head Unit display backlight not working

Just come back from a week away and I have noticed now that the Discover Media Plus head unit in my 2018 Ocean is dim especially in sunlight. I have tried turning up the brilliance in the settings option and it seems to make no difference what level is set. Not sure if I am imagining it, but the dash roller adjuster for the display backlight also seems to have little effect. Further, coincidentally the usb socket in the glove compartment no longer works.
Anybody got any thoughts as to what is up? Also how do you remove the head unit?
