Hi All,

Have made the decision to buy a new California after thinking about it for too long. Still some thinking to do regarding spec and trading in/selling my current vehicle - a Romahome. So thought it would be go to join up and learn from you experienced owners.

Had a test drive in Crawley today, very friendly and helpful dealer.

Is it worth shopping around or do dealers hold on for list price???

Regards,

Dan

Dan, welcome

I'm not too far from you so if you'd like a look around the van or just to talk about options etc give me a shout.

Because the Cali is a specialist vehicle you do need to be prepared to travel.

Definitely shop around. You'll find differences in the quotes you receive and also some dealers reserve slots with a basic spec and can amend them up to the time they go into production. This means that some times you can get a much faster delivery and still have the flexibility on your own spec.

Hi Dan

Definitely shop around for a Cali - We bought ours from a dealer in West Yorkshire and we live in the midlands as that was where we got the best deal

Good luck in your search and welcome to the forum :smile

Thanks for the advice everyone. Haggling is not one of my strong points but as I don't want to be in debt for years I need to give it a serious go!!!

Stu, thanks for the offer. I will pick your brains straight away...I see you have the optional privacy glass. From the brochure you can have either standard double glazing or option of privacy glass, but seemingly not both. Do you find the privacy glass insulating at all?

Double glazing comes as standard privacy glass is an option but it is still double glazed
It's an option I would go for every time makes the windows dark :thumb

I would also always go for privacy, especially for resale. Hi by the way, I am also just down the road in Chi.

Thanks Calikev. I didn't know whether it was choice of one or other. Good to know privacy glass is also double glazed.

Hi Martin,
Got a question(s) if you don't mind. Did you buy your California from new, and if so could you recommend any particular dealers in the area who are good to speak to???

I think locally you are restricted to Poole or Guildford. There is of course SMG of Cowfold who would be worth speaking to as they tend to look after Forum members.
