Hi, just joined. My name is John and live in Glasgow.
At this point just browsing to learn more about Cali. Been long time VW owners with original Beetle, Golf, Jetta, Tiguan and my wife had a Polo and now an Up!
We were tent campers for 10 years, folding camper for another 10 years caravan owners 1 year, back to tents and currently have a small caravan t@b 320. Thinking about selling that now, after five years, to get something a little larger with a loo (thinking Adria Action).
Now also looking at parting with my daily driver volvo XC40, to get a transporter conversion or a Cali for day trips/weekends and towing small caravan for longer breaks.
I need to research engine/loading rating to safely tow a small caravan (MTPLM 1300kg).
Really attracted to the OEM aspect of California and looking forward to learning lots on the forum.

We used to tow a BaseCamp2 (1050Kg Plated 1300Kg) behind a T6 California Beach 2.0 TDI DSG, towing capacity 2500Kg, towed very well (50+ mpg solo and 30 mpg towing).
Traded both in July after 2 years with caravan combination for large motorhome, which now has a small car as a tender. Same mpg travelling to and from holiday venues, and a lot more room when on holiday. Never used the Beach as a daily driver though, I have a smart diesel for that

Thanks, that’s really helpful to hear first hand experience. Was the Cali a 150bhp version?

Towed a car and enclosed trailer with my 150 DSG. Tows it with ease and well within the 2.5 tonne towing limit. It’s a nice towing combo

Yes it was 150hp with adblue
