High season camping in France

On a municipal 30km south of Tours - 5 pitches taken out of 60 or so! I guess the rest have been reserved by Brits in the queue at Dover!

The guy at the check in was pretty pissed off that more people don’t visit his site - he spent 30 mins or so telling us all about the 25 Chateaux within 30 km. To be fair, it’s not the greatest town, but the site is fine for a stopover.

This is the first time in more than 10 years that we have been so many times at a small campsites -via Camping-car Park- and we like it very much. We used to do almost exclusively camper places that we found with all the well known apps and most were very nice and well located but sometimes you had a dump site; we also went to camping municipals to take a shower. At large luxury campsites with a swimming paradise you would rarely find a free spot in the summer months (or they won’t give you one) but most of the other campsites still have something for an overnight stay. So finding a place to sleep always worked out fine for more than a decade. But this summer we did it with the CCP system and this works very well; most of them are former municipals anyway.
